Fine Old Nautical Block with Brass Moon Detail: Knowledgable nautical collectors know which ship this would have come from due to the applied .75" solid brass stamping. I was told at the time I purchased it but I have long since forgotten. Sorry. The oak block measures 4.5" x 3.25" with a height of about 2.75". The hand forged, iron hook measures 3.5" x 2". The metal center still turns. Block with pulley and hook. Excellent condition. Price: $135.00
Hemingray Green Insulator: I call this type of insulator a Mickey Mouse because of the two "ears" which are actually the handles for turning. The side is marked Hemingray, Patent June 17, 1890, May 2, 1893. Not only is this green hard to find but also it has gentle amber swirls in the ears which makes it very special. It is 5.25" tall and 4" wide with a bottom diameter of 3.25". Excellent clean condition. One bottom point is completely missing and another is missing its top. Price: $225.00
An email comment: Your green Hemingray is indeed a neat, and rather uncommon, insulator, and is nicknamed
a Mickey Mouse, but I had to comment on your statement that the ears were actually the handles used for turning it. This is not true, and I can't help but be amused by that idea. They possibly were used in such a way by some
linemen, but actually this was merely part of the design of the insulator so that the tie wires and cables could be wrapped around in various ways quite securely, and so the insulator would not come loose from the power line. The "groove" along the top, between the two "ears" was where a heavy cable laid across the insulator on most installation situations. I wish I had some photos of these in service to show you, but I don't. Your Mickey Mouse is classed as a CD 257 ( one in a series of numbers used by collectors to identify an insulator by the style [shape] irregardless of color or embossing, etc.). Best regards, and you have a great web site!

The decorative trim is solid brass. The top cover has three horse shoes of which the center horse shoe has a mirror in it. The same winged cherub is on the front and back cover. Most of the original velvet cloth has lost its fuzziness. Some of the pages have rips in the decorative paper and some sections have come loose. Photos in very good to excellent condition. Binding tight. Clean. Clasp and hanging tab work well. Price: $148.00
Novelty Bowling Pin Knife 1970's: 2.25" x .75". Sorry, I can't read the manufacturer's mark on the knife blade. The photo is large so you may try to figure it out. Excellent condition. Two available. Price each: $12.00
Vintage Hand Painted Case Glass Shade: This beautiful old hand painted shade is case glass and would have been used on a pendant or direct ceiling fixture. The last photo shows this detail of the layer of cream colored glass over pure white glass. The first two photos show this shade with a fixture and the light on. Note: The fixture does not come with the shade. I wanted you to see the difference with light on and light off. The hand painted scene is around the shade in three places. The "hole" at the bottom is for a fancy tassel finial. This was typical of 1930's lighting. It is 5.75" deep with a diameter of 8". Very excellent condition. Only minor top edge roughness that is common in old shades. This would be covered by the fixture and not be seen. Price: $45.00
