Lyrics

Alligator Song

I’m on a blossoming peach tree branch

over the alligator pond.

Alligators loll on the mud-bank,

sunning their breasts and bellies.

Blossom petals flutter to the water.

Tails go flap!

Teeth go snap!

I’m up here on a peach tree branch,

over the alligator pond.

Yes!

Migration Song

Songbirds migrate to a loving, gentle climate,

down the coastline, drawn divinely, drawn to food and safer nesting.

In that refuge, genial bird-friends thrum and tweet at singing parties.

I will warble to you sweetly, now; this lyric trills a story:

Once I flew from silent winter’s lonely latitiudes, through sleet;

Sanctuary, I am here now, and, tri-la, I’m here to sing!
